How does it actually count bugs?
Your phone or the Tally puck listens for the sharp electric snap a zapper makes when it kills a bug, recognizes that exact sound signature, and adds one to your tally — all processed on your device in real time.
Do I need the Tally device to play?
Not at all. The free app works on its own using your phone's microphone, including ranks, battles and leaderboards. Tally just makes it hands-free and phone-free — an always-on puck with a dial you can read across the yard.
Is it recording me?
Never. All detection runs locally on your device. No audio is ever stored, buffered, or uploaded anywhere — only the count and the timestamp of each zap are kept.
Does it work with my zapper?
Yes. A ten-second calibration teaches No Fly Zone the specific snap of your zapper and the acoustics of your space, so it works across brands, distances and rooms.
What if it miscounts?
You can remove a false count or add a missed kill in one tap. Corrections quietly retune the detector, so it gets sharper the more you use it.
